Overview
This campaign reframes Formula 1 by shifting attention away from the machine and back onto the human body behind the wheel. Built around Lando Norris, the project challenges the long-standing narrative that success in F1 is driven primarily by engineering and technology, instead emphasizing the physical endurance, mental strain, and emotional pressure drivers experience every race weekend.
Inspired by the Esquire photo collage discovered in the University of Delaware Special Collections, the visual system uses fragmentation, disruption, and layered composition to break apart the polished mythology surrounding Formula 1. By separating image, typography, and data into competing elements, the campaign exposes the tension between the sport’s obsession with measurable machine performance and the invisible human labor that makes that performance possible.
Through in-person infographics and social media posts, the campaign positions Norris not just as a driver but as an athlete pushing his body and mind beyond their limits. The result is a campaign that asks audiences to reconsider what the most important statistic in Formula 1 really is: the human being inside the car.
